Midnight Cravings: Jin Shan Lou's Taiwan Porridge Supper at Marina Bay Sands Singapore [Sponsored Review]

Before I begin my review, I really need to state that the pictures you see here in this review are all unedited and straight from my camera! The only thing I edited was the cropping of the images. I've been saving up since late last year and last month, I finally bought the Fujifilm X-T1. It's the most expensive purchase I ever made but pretty damn worth every single penny. I think it's also worthy of being called my dream camera; it's a semi-pro but gives DSLR quality images, I think it even rivals (or even beats) some DSLRs out there in the market!

I didn't use any external light source, just pure natural light (my favourite lighting condition) and all these were taken at 6 plus 7 in the evening. And plus, Fuji colours are amazingggg and well balanced, images are crisp too, I obviously love it to bits. I feel like a proud mother showing off my new baby hahahahaha.

Anyway! Back to the review!

Jin Shan Lou is helmed by world-class and award-winning chefs, offering a menu that offers authentic Cantonese, Hunan and Sichuan dishes. For this supper menu, it's helmed by Master Chef Huang Ching Biao who has served in the Taiwanese Presidential Kitchen preparing cuisine for royalty, presidents, high-ranking officials and the elite. Good stuff I tell you. ;)

Located in the CBD area at Marina Bay Sands Hotel, it makes the perfect choice for anyone in the area feeling hungry after regular closing hours, and whom also does not want to compromise on the taste and quality of the food.

These were what Chef Huang prepared for us that evening:

Braised Duck in Signature Sauce  |  $20

Meat Dishes

Deep-fried Shrimp Paste Chicken  |  $24
Braised Pork Belly  |  $20

Fried Pomfret with Bean Sauce  |  $18

Stewed Minced Pork with Salted Egg  |  $16

Stewed Pork Belly with Preserved Vegetables  |  $16

Omelette & Vegetables

Sautéed Potato Leaf with Ginger  |  $18

Sautéed Bean Sprouts with Salted Fish  |  $18

Main Dishes from the A-la-carte Menu

Taiwan Dragon Wine Chicken with Basil and Spices  |  $20 / $30 / $40

Stir Fried Cuttlefish with Sambal Sauce  |  $28 / $42 / $56

And everything at a glance!

I'm still thinking of this spread as I'm writing this aha. It was felt like the perfect match between home-cooked goodness and chinese fine dining. But I absolutely loved this dinner. The biggest highlights were the Taiwan Dragon Wine Chicken with Basil and Spices, the Stewed Minced Pork with Salted Egg and my all-time favourite, Deep-fried Shrimp Paste Chicken.

The porridge has a great consistency. I think my parents would love this meal. They love a good bowl of porridge accompanied with dishes like these.

Thank you Jin Shan Lou and Master Chef Huang for having me, and for stuffing me silly with these yummy plates of food. I also want say thank you to the lovely Sylvia from Levitate PR for the invitation and for being ever so accommodating. :)
